We are a voluntary run youth club which was founded in may 2006 by a few local residents who came up with the idea to create a club for children to attend in an area were there arent much amenities, After months of paperwork, applying for funding and purchasing equipment the youth club was then able to provide a safe environment for children to meet up with friends and enjoy themselves.
At the beginning we had an average of 35 children from the blackwell area attending each week but now in 2011 there's an average of 75 children each week with children now coming from surrounding areas Newton,Westhouses,Tibshelf,Morton,Hilcote and south Normanton which enjoy coming to us and have made new friends too.
As we have progressed we have gone on to provide trips out also going on an annual 4 day residential trip to kingswood outdoor activity centre which is based in staffordshire in which we have provided this trip at a reduced cost to the children as we had a lot of successful fundraising events which allowed us to fund the trips.
Blackwell youth club is continuing to go onto be successful each year with a dedicated team of volunteers who give up there time to help make it what it is today.
